Every step is practiced in the training environment, using a practice patient.
Start of shift
Open the patient list
Set up the list, review overnight events and new results.
Pre-rounds
Review the chart
Find the overnight note, active orders, labs and medication list.
Rounds
Enter orders
Place orders from a PowerPlan, modify one, and sign.
Late morning
Document the visit
Write the progress note using the template, pull in results, sign.
Afternoon
Handle results and messages
Review a critical result, answer an in-basket message.
Discharge
Reconcile and discharge
Reconcile medications, enter discharge orders, finish the summary.
End of shift
Hand off
Update the handoff view for the night provider.
